Buckle up it's auto refrigerant time again. If people in the auto world you know it can be 90 bucks today and 120 bucks next week. That's the reason why it is a commodity. Back in the day I used to sell pallets and could not think the price freon was bringing. Automobile freon is wholesalers can make a little money or loose their tale at the end of the year if the freon costs drop even though that rare. Wholesalers would buy tractor trailer purchases to get the very finest price and often in December. I sold more refrigerant r134a during december than any other month.
For the car shops it's slightly a different game. The shops would need to buy aircon freon in tiny purchases which was pretty costly but they are also billing with a mark up to the end user or Johnny on the street. Obviously I am purchasing a couple of pallets; sell some and cling on to some. Ensure you go searching. Some places will sell at a mark up of their purchase price and not what the price of their next purchase!
As much as it may hurt you really need to buy what you believe you need times 2 or 3. You'll make your cash back but keep abreast of the new commodity automobile freon cost. A quick call to your local parts store will keep your numbers in line. If you get a really good deal - yes they come along - ensure you call a couple of other shops and make them aware you should purchase in volume and if they would like going in with you for this nice price; of course after you mark it up a couple of bucks! Do not be disturbed you are doing them a favor because they need to buy freon too.
