Customized Double Cab Bakkies

I've got the favourable fortune of being married to a motoring fanatic who frequently likes to go head-to-head with other operators of double cab bakkies on a uniquely designed outdoor adventure trail.  I like to remain at home when he puts his bakkie through its paces on the course as the track is rutted and uneven and I don't like all the dirt and dust that gets churned up, based on the prevailing weather conditions.   Even though the car has excellent suspension plus the cab is air-conditioned, I under no circumstances accompany my hubby when he tackles one of these adventure paths because he insists on keeping the windows open to maximize the trailblazing experience.  Having said that, I love to go with him when he goes to have the car customized which is something he does a lot.

There are a variety alterations that can be made to double cab bakkies so they can perform more effectively in offroad environments but I am primarily interested in modifications that favor me and my kids while our family is out and about on the city's roadways.   This isn't to imply that I do not know something about offroad modifications because my partner likes to tell me, at length, regarding each and every thing he has performed on the vehicle and then he drags me over to the car port to show me personally.  Prior to now he's acquired a bullbar, a towbar, a roof rack and a pair of spotlights mounted on the exterior of the automobile.  The towbar and roof rack I am in favor of because the kids love going camping so we often hitch the camp trailer to the bakkie and spontaneously head out into the countryside on weekends.  The bulbar, on the other hand, is another matter.  Why he could not have been completely satisfied with a basic nudge bar is beyond me because he has never demonstrated any indication of wishing to manage a farm where he could possibly actually come across some bulls.  He says he mounted the bullbars so that other drivers will give him a wide berth, I just feel it is a guy issue.

What I like about double cab bakkies is the sense of safety I get when I am in one.  They are very tough and hug the road because of their four wheel drive capacity.  Hubby drives his company car in the week so I am able to use the bakkie to tote the children all over.  I will be part of a lift club with other moms from the neighborhood and we take turns to fetch the kids from school and take them to soccer training or maybe ballet, for example.  I always feel secure in my husband’s double cab mainly because I am situated higher than the traffic and can see far ahead, in addition to having the ability to hold my own on the road alongside the minibus taxis.

Nevertheless, in spite of the safety aspect of double cab bakkies, that, I might add, is critical to me, this vehicle is steadily growing on me.  I battled to get into and out of it initially since it is high off the ground and I am not especially tall in height.  Fortunately, there was a modification available to cater for this kind of predicament.  My better half took it back in right away in order to have the running strips modified and I am now able to ascend and descend from the bakkie with ease as a result of clever steps fixed into the running board.
