Aimpoint's Hunter Range Of Red Dot Sights

Hunting with parallax-free red dot sights started in Sweden in 1975 and is only now really starting to catch on with American hunters. Many generations of sight later, Aimpoint have decided to improve their already state of the art 9000 series hunting sights with a new range offering a significant advantage.

The Aimpoint Hunter series sights, as with all Aimpoints, feature Parallax free operation enabling the hunter to employ differing shooting positions without affecting the point of impact of the group. You need not worry about centering the dot in the middle of the tube. Both eyes open shooting enables maximum situational awareness and the ability to take shots at moving targets. Aimpoints are often used for wing shooting in the Nordic countries.

The sights are utterly rugged, waterproof and coated against fog and rain. The Aimpoint Hunter is tested to survive the most powerful magnum calibres in light rifles and handguns and can endure the vibration of semiautomatic weapons. They are machined from 6000 series aluminium and hard anodized with a semi-matte finish so as not to spook game.

Thanks to their proprietary ACET technology, Aimpoint extract 50,000 hours continuous operation out of a single CR2032 battery - the 9000s used an N series. The coarser, half inch per click adjustments of the Hunter series speed up zeroing. The adjusters are on the objective housing; what look like knobs are actually adjuster tools that screw in to the windage and elevation adjuster housings.

The main difference from the 9000 series is that 12, rather than 9 day brightness settings are available with the Aimpoint Hunter and these are adjustable via two easily manipulated and silent buttons on the top of the sight rather than the 9000's twist knob. This system is much easier to operate wearing gloves. Two tube sizes are available, 30mm (with a 43mm objective) and 34mm (with a 47mm objective) giving slightly better light transmission. You can have either tube diameter in short or long configuration. The short version is suitable for short and medium length actions and the long version for long actions.

They are designed to give owners of both modern and traditionally styled hunting rifles an aesthetically acceptable alternative to the military ranges. Aimpoint include Weaver-style rings with Torx screws, lens caps and a battery. The H30S, H30L, H34S and H34L make up the Aimpoint Hunter range. The designations are easy to interpret - H = hunter, 3x = tube diameter in mm and S = Short and L + Long. The Aimpoint Hunter H34L for instance is a Hunter 34mm tube sight designed for long actions.
